India is emerging in the global arena as a leading generator of renewable energy. In its efforts to move further towards sustainable development, the government has set a target to achieve 175 GW of installed capacity of renewable energy by the end of 2022. Out of this, 100 GW is the target set for solar installations. Till date, 23 GW of this target has already been achieved and 40 GW is under different stages of implementation. This inclination towards solar generation has allowed India to overpower the US and become the 2nd largest country in terms of solar power generation in the world.

With Government of India’s ambitious green energy targets, the renewable energy sector has become attractive for both foreign and domestic investors. It is expected to attract investments of up to US $80 billion in the next four years.
